BI & Reporting Engineer
Company Overview
Our client is an early stage fintech company that exists to deliver an array of accretive revenue services to the retail industry which are designed to be low-friction and high-benefit for retailers. They are a new entity that was combining IP assets from several previous firms to bring to market a universal Over the Counter (OTC) and Health Benefit Card (HBC) payment Gateway in the US. The Gateway is built on certified software from all the OTC/HBC processors, and enables retailers, primarily Independent & Ethnic Grocers, to accept all OTC/HBC cards in the market with a single integration with a merchant’s Point of Sale.
The Role
As a BI & Reporting Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in building the data foundation that powers decision-making across the business and within customer-facing products. This is a highly cross-functional position where you’ll partner with data engineering, product, finance, and operations to design scalable data models, deliver actionable insights, and enable embedded analytics.
You’ll own the reporting layer end-to-end—from transforming raw data into reliable datasets to delivering dashboards and automated reports that drive both internal strategy and external partner needs. In a fast-paced, early-stage environment, your work will directly influence product development, operational efficiency, and client experience.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical and business sides of data—someone who can build robust pipelines and models, while also translating data into clear, meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build & Maintain Data Models
- Work with Data Engineer to create reliable, scalable data models to support reporting and analytics
- Work with Data Engineer to create and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines from internal systems and external partners
2. Deliver Internal Reporting
- Optimize, Enhance, and Create dashboards and reports for teams across finance, product, operations, and leadership
- Refine and standardize key business metrics and KPIs
3. Support External & Partner Reporting
- Produce accurate, timely reports and data extracts for external partners and compliance needs
- Automate recurring reporting workflows and deliveries
4. Enable Embedded Analytics
- Power data features within customer-facing products (e.g., dashboards, transaction views)
- Collaborate with engineering and product to integrate scalable, performant data solutions
5. Ensure Data Quality & Reliability
- Monitor data pipelines and reports for accuracy and freshness
- Troubleshoot issues and implement validation checks
6. Collaborate Across Teams
- Gather requirements, prioritize needs, and translate business questions into data solutions
- Communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
7. Uphold Security & Compliance
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive financial data
- Support auditability, access controls, and regulatory reporting requirements
