Company Overview

Our client is an early stage fintech company that exists to deliver an array of accretive revenue services to the retail industry which are designed to be low-friction and high-benefit for retailers. They are a new entity that was combining IP assets from several previous firms to bring to market a universal Over the Counter (OTC) and Health Benefit Card (HBC) payment Gateway in the US. The Gateway is built on certified software from all the OTC/HBC processors, and enables retailers, primarily Independent & Ethnic Grocers, to accept all OTC/HBC cards in the market with a single integration with a merchant’s Point of Sale.

 

The Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our growing team. As a key player in our development process, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of our financial technology products. In this role, you will work collaboratively with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to develop testing strategies and implement rigorous quality assurance processes. Your main objective will be to identify and resolve software defects while enhancing the overall user experience. With your expertise in quality assurance methodologies, you will contribute to the improvement of our products by analyzing requirements and conducting thorough regression testing. This position requires a passion for technology and a keen eye for detail, as you will be tasked with creating and maintaining documentation for test plans and scenarios. Additionally, you will monitor application performance post-deployment to ensure smooth operations and user satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement test plans, test cases, and test scripts for various applications and systems.
  • Conduct manual and automated testing to ensure product quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand requirements and define test strategies.
  • Identify, document, and track defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Execute regression tests and report findings to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback on quality-related issues.
  • Monitor application performance and conduct post-release validation to identify potential improvements.

As a QA Engineer, you will be part of the core Product Engineering team. This small but mighty team is nimble, agile, and focused on speed and quality in the products they deliver for the Retail industry.

You are a strong independent contributor who works well on high-performing teams and enjoys building excellent, fully functional, elegant products. You are customer-centric, open to feedback, curious, and never afraid to raise your hand when you need support. You have experience in Retail and Payments and are familiar with Point-of-Sale systems.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Proven experience as a QA Engineer or in a similar quality assurance role within the technology sector.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG or other).
  • Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
